DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd, (October, 28th) sold 703 rams at its annual show and sale of North County Hill Cheviots, generously sponsored by Robertson Crop Services, D. R. Alexander Trailers, and Animal Health (Highland).
The overall champion was a two shear from Messrs W. D. Allen, Whitefield, Humbleheugh, realising £1,500 to the judge Mr M. Cook, Baligill, Halkirk. The reserve champion award went to a three shear from Mr L. Robertson, Inkstack Farm, Barrack, Thurso, realising £1,000 also to the judge. Miss J. Campbell, Armadale Farm, Thurso won the Animal Health Highland sponsored prize for highest Highland flock average (minimum 5 rams), selling 10 rams to average £1220.00.
Shearlings (129) sold to £2,800 gross from East Brachmont Farm, Banchory.
Two shears (430) sold to £3,100 gross from Wester Dunnet, Thurso.
Three shears (102) sold to £5,500 gross from Inkstack Farm, Barrack.
Four shears (33) sold to £1,600 gross from Wester Dunnet.
Ram lambs (6) sold to £600 gross from 1 & 2 Ose, Isle of Skye.
