Road condition reports by The Highland Council's Community Services for Friday, 15 December 2017 are as follows:
Caithness and North Sutherland: Wet roads on most of the routes with a dusting on the high ground, Caithness has hard packed snow and icy stretches on some routes all treated with 20gms of salt no problems reported. At 09:06
South Sutherland: All routes icy this morning, all currently being treated in order of priority. No known problems. At: 08:00
Skye and Lochalsh: No problems to report across Skye network this morning. Road surface temperatures higher than forecast. Ice patches, frost and sleet reported across Lochalsh / Wester Ross routes. Treatment extending across secondary and other routes. No problems to report. At 09:26
Lochaber: Primary routes finally complete. Very tricky driving conditions with black ice on many of the routes this morning. Now going on to deal with secondary and other routes as resources permit. At 10:16
Nairn: Dusting of snow and frost on higher routes, some sparkle on lower routes - primary and secondary routes being salted. At 08:31
Badenoch and Strathspey: 3 to 4cms of snow on higher routes, lower routes have frosty slush. Roads being bladed and salted. At 07:50
Inverness: Wet roads this morning on the low ground turning to icy patches and light snow fall on higher roads. Road surface temperature still below 0 in most areas covering all routes and footpaths. At 07:45
Highland has the longest road network of any council in Scotland and it is not possible to treat every road at the same time. A priority system is applied to treat the areas in greatest need first.
Trunk roads are gritted by BEAR Scotland (North West) for Transport Scotland.
School Closures: Rogart Primary is closed today due to severe road conditions affecting 19 pupils.
