DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (April, 4th) sold 755 Aberdeen Angus, native bred and continental store cattle in a special show and sale and 15 OTM cattle.
Aberdeen Angus bullocks (290) averaged 240.7p and sold to 268.6p per kilo for a 376kg Aberdeen Angus cross from North Calder, Halkirk and £1,440 gross for a 640kg Aberdeen Angus cross from Lochdhu, Nairn.
Aberdeen Angus heifers (227) averaged 226.7p and sold to 277.1p per kilo and £1,380 gross for a pen of 498kg Aberdeen Angus crosses from Ardjachie, Tain.
Other native bullocks (126) averaged 216.7p and sold to 250.0p per kilo for a 400kg Luing cross from Hartmount Holdings, Scotsburn, and £1,310 gross for a pair of 590kg Hereford crosses from Braelangwell, Balblair.
Other native heifers (47) averaged 199.7p and sold to 227.5p per kilo and £1,160 gross fora 510kg British Shorthorn cross from Alvie Estate.
Continental bullocks (35) averaged 222.6p and sold to 243.8p per kilo for a 530kg Simmental cross from Greenvale, Dunnet and £1,330 gross for a 615kg Limousin cross from Mid Fearn, Tain.
Continental heifers (30) averaged 215.4p and sold to 238.2p per kilo for a pen of 361kg Charolais crosses from Forsie, Westfield and £1,195 gross for a 530kg Simmental cross from Greenvale, Dunnet.
OTM cattle (15) averaged 139.9p and sold to 161.3p per kilo for a 775kg Limousin cross cow from Sornum, Easter Kinkell, and £1470 gross for a 1190kg Aberdeen Angus bull from Ardjachie, Tain.
In the Aberdeen Angus Cattle Society sponsored show and sale of store cattle judged by Mr J. Fowlie, Adziel, Fraserburgh, the overall champion was awarded to a 660kg bullock from Wester Fearn, Ardgay, realising £1,420 gross to Firm of A Reid, Mill of Haulkerton. Reserve champion was the 645kg second prize bullock from Ardjachie, Tain realising £1,410 also to Firm of A Reid.
Whilst in the Shorthorn section, sponsored by Ian Maceachern Transport, the champion was awarded to Messrs W.J & G.A Fraser, Little Croy Farm, Croy, with a 525kg bullock realising £1,210, and the reserve also went to Messrs W.J & G.A Fraser for a 550kg bullock, realising £1,270.
