Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd - Sale 26 September 2018

DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (September, 26th) sold 760 store cattle and yearling calves at the show and sale of continental store cattle sponsored by Beedie Bros. Ltd., Haulage Contractors.

The judge, Mr G. Cowie, Cairnton, Fordyce, awarded the junior continental champion to a 485kg Limousin cross bullock from the Firm of J. Munro & Son, Invercharron, Ardgay, realising £1,140. The senior continental champion was a 555kg British Blue cross bullock from Udale Farm, Poyntzfield, Dingwall, realising £1,260.

Bullocks (425) averaged 207.2p and sold to 360.0p per kg for a 250kg British Blue cross from Shewglie Farm, Glenurquhart and £1,260 gross for a 555kg British Blue cross from Udale Farm.

Heifers (333) averaged 192.2p and sold to 234.4p per kg for a 465kg Limousin cross from 217 The Doll, Brora, and £1,340 gross for a 690kg Limousin cross from Balvaird Farm, Muir of Ord.

Young Bulls (2) averaged 238.0p and sold to 293.3p per kg and £880 gross for a 300kg and British Blue cross from Shewglie Farm.

"Top bullocks sold well, all other classes proved more difficult to sell."

OTM cows (39) averaged 121.7p and sold to 164.9p per kg and £1,270 gross for a 770kg Charolais cross from Fiddlefield, Muir of Ord.

OTM bulls (2) sold to 121.4p per kg and £1,590 gross for a 1310kg Charolais from Kindeace, Alness.
