Free forum event for Highland landlords

The Highland Council, in partnership with Under One Roof Scotland, are inviting all private landlords to a special seminar specifically to look at issues surrounding common repairs and building maintenance and how to deal with any problems that may arise.

Under One Roof Scotland (www.underoneroof.scot) is an impartial online information site for flat owners and their advisers. It covers all aspects of tenement management and legislation and has technical information on buildings of all ages and types. It is funded by a partnership of organisations including Local Authorities, Historic Scotland, Property Managers Association Scotland, Scottish Federation of Housing Associations and the Scottish Government.

The seminar, which is free, will take place on Saturday 9 March at The Town House in Inverness from 3-5pm and is one in a series of such events taking place across Scotland.

The session will provide private landlords with information and advice on their rights and responsibilities, how to deal with any problems surrounding common repairs, knowing what works to prioritise and getting co-owners to pay.

Any landlords unable to attend the Inverness event are very welcome to book into any of the other Under One Roof seminars taking place across Scotland.

Still time to return Latheron, Lybster and Clyth Community Council election ballots

Anyone eligible to vote in the contested Latheron, Lybster and Clyth Community Council election is reminded that their postal ballot papers need to be completed and returned in the pre-paid envelope provided by 12 noon on Thursday, 8 October 2026.   Candidates standing were invited to submit a statement to support their candidacy and these statements are provided in the envelopes mailed out along with the ballot papers to all eligible voters.

Highland Council proceeds to procurement for a new electric Corran Ferry

The Highland Council has reached another significant milestone in the delivery of a replacement Corran Ferry, with the procurement for a new electric vessel.   Funded through a £58 million investment from the Inverness and Highland City-Region Deal, including £28 million from the Scottish Government for the new electric vessel, £20 million from the UK Government and £10 million from The Highland Council towards landside infrastructure, the project will deliver a modern replacement ferry service for one of Scotland's busiest single-vessel crossings.
