DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts, (February, 28th) sold 2,516 sheep of all classes.

Lambs (1,449) averaged £54.49 and sold to £80 gross twice for pens of Texel crosses from Wester Moy, Urray and 134 West Langwell, Rogart.

Ewes (519) sold to £126 gross for Texels from Wester Moy.

In-lamb gimmers & ewes (411) averaged £84.37 and sold to £270 gross for Cheviot one crop ewes from 185 Migdale, Bonar Bridge.

Rams and feeding sheep (137) sold to £92 gross for a Texel ram from Achtuie, Drumnadrochit.

DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (February, 28th) sold 13 Blackface females at its show and sale.

Mr B Cocker, Knowehead of Auldallan judged the Blackface section and awarded his champion to the first prize in lamb ewe from Hillhead of Morinsh, a daughter off a 1,500 Elmscleugh carrying twins sired by Allan Fauld, Bullseye, realising £1,000 to William Stewart, Bomakelloch.

The reserve champion was awarded to the 2nd prize in lamb gimmer from Midlock Farm, Crawford a daughter off 100,000 Elmscleugh carrying twins sired by Midlock, Hawkeye, realising £600 to Mr E Fraser, Balgowan, Laggan.

In the Blue Faced Leicester section the top price was awarded to Midlock Farm for a ewe lamb sired by 4366/J3 Greenhow out of a 2944/E1 Bull & Cavel dam realising £700.

Averages:

Blackface – seven gimmers, £488.57.

BFL – six lambs, £396.66.
