DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd, (September 27th) sold 371 rams and 18 females at its annual show and sale of Cheviot and Continental rams and females.
The overall show champion and winner of the Mountrich trophy was a Charollais shearling from Upper Auchenlay, Dunblane, which realised £480 to Baillie Farm, Bridge of Westfield, Thurso. The Cheviot champion was a shearling from Wester Dunnet, Thurso, realising £220 to Ashley, North Kessock.

Bullocks (125) averaged 299.6p per kg and sold to 361.3p per kg for a pen of 191kg Limousin crosses from 387 Elphin, Lairg and £2,000 gross for a 650kg British Blue cross from Easter Kirk, Wick.

Dingwall's annual sale is becoming quite a spectacle to be seen with demand rising especially further afield in pedigree flocks.
