DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd, (July, 17th) sold 1,505 store cattle at their 16th anniversary show and sale.

The Judge, Mr John Brown, Gaindykehead Farm, Airdrie chose his overall champion in the show sponsored by Brodies LLP, HRN Tractors Ltd, Conan Vet & Ian S. Roger Ltd., MacGregor Industrial Supplies and the Simmental Society, to the Senior champion and 1st prize senior heifer a 510kg 16 month old Limousin cross from Messrs J. & J. Henderson, Udale, Poyntzfield, which realised £1,230 and sold to Messrs E. M. Smith & Son, Towiemore, Drummuir.

The reserve champion was awarded to the Aberdeen Angus champion and 1st prize Aberdeen Angus bullock, a 12 month old, 485kg bullock from Messrs Smallburn Farms, Duffus, Elgin which realised £1,200 and sold to Mr T. Taylor, Heatheryhall Farm, Thankerton.

Bullocks (889) averaged 211.3p (-8.1p on the year) and sold to 297.5p per kg for a pair of 242kg Charolais crosses from Bogburn Farm, Duncanston and £1,290 gross (twice) for a 785kg Charolais cross from Fiddlefield, Muir of Ord and also for a 725kg Charolais cross from Woodend, Killearnan.

Heifers (609) averaged 202.7p (-5.8p on the year) and sold to 308.1p per kg and £1,340 gross for a 435kg Limousin cross from The Rowans, Brora.

Young bulls (7) averaged 173.2p and sold to 212.8p per kg for a 235kg Charolais cross from Bogburn Farm and £720 gross for a pair of 372kg Limousin crosses from Tomchrasky, Glenmoriston.

OTM prime & feeding cows (53) averaged 120.8p and sold to 154.0p per kilo for a 695kg Limousin cross from Kinchyle Farm, Scaniport and £1,150 gross for an 855kg Simmental cross also from Kinchyle Farm.

OTM bulls (4) averaged 115.2p and sold to 124.9p per kg for a 985kg Limousin from Ardnagrask, Muir of Ord and £1,310 gross for an 1110kg Limousin from Trien Croft, Carbost.
