Dingwall & Highlands Marts Ltd - Sale 9 September 2019

DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highlands Marts Ltd, (September, 9th) sold 3,719 ewe lambs and gimmers at the Highland Mule Breeders Association annual show and sale.

The gimmer judge, Mr A. Coghill, Skinnet, Halkirk, awarded the Challenge Cup for best pen of Mule gimmers to Messrs D. & D. M. Leslie, Redhill, which realised £168 to Mr S. Montgomery, 30 Balallan, Isle of Lewis. The ewe lamb judge, Mr G. McKilligan, Coxton, Cornhill awarded the Secretary's Cup to a pen from Messrs K. & J. Matheson, Milton Farm, Aberarder which realised £142 to Messrs Iain G. Robertson, Lower Inchcorsie, Rothiemay.

Highland Mule gimmers (1,018) averaged £143.03 (-£1.84 on the corresponding sale of last year) and sold to £170 from Croftdhu, Ballindalloch.

Other breeds of gimmers (44) averaged £138.41 (-£6.59 on the corresponding year) and sold to £145.00 for Cheviot Mules from Achnabat, Dores.

Highland Mule ewe lambs (2,649) averaged £85.85 (-£3.60 on the corresponding year) and sold to £142 from Milton Farm, Aberarder.

Other breeds of ewe lambs (8) averaged £72.00 (-£24.80p on the corresponding year) and sold to £72 for Charrolais crosses from Tulloch Farm, Dingwall.
