DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (September, 25th) sold 730 store cattle at their annual show and sale of Aberdeen Angus, native and continental store cattle sponsored by Johnston Carmichael Chartered Accountants, Inverness & Shearwell.
The judge, Mr F. McEwan, Mains of Colliston, Arbroath, awarded the Aberdeen Angus champion to a 715kg bullock from Messrs G. & D. Coghill, Stempster Mains, Halkirk, realising £1,360. The Aberdeen Angus reserve was a 545kg heifer also from Messrs G. & D. Coghill realising £1,060. In the Shorthorn section, the champion prize went to a 610kg bullock from Messrs C. MacAdie & Sons, 1 Skaill, Dounreay, realising £1,110, and the reserve to a 610kg bullock also from 1 Skaill realising £1,040.

Aberdeen Angus bullocks (293) averaged 190.1p and sold to 213.6p per kg for a pair of 405kg crosses from Balnacnoc, Uig, and £1,360 gross for a 715kg cross from Stempster Mains, Halkirk.
Aberdeen Angus heifers (176) averaged 175.2p and sold to 194.5p per kg for a 545kg cross from Stempster Mains, and £1,060 gross for a 545kg cross from Stempster Mains.
Other native bred bullocks (98) averaged 173.4p and sold to 196.9p per kg for a 325kg Shorthorn cross from Balintraid, Delny and £1,100 gross for a 610kg Shorthorn cross from 1 Skaill, Dounreay.
Other native bred heifers (47) averaged 178.5p and sold to 262.6p per kg for a pair of 297kg Blue Grey crosses from Corvost, Ardgay and £1,150 gross for a pen of 541kg Shorthorn crosses 3 Dounie, Edderton.
Continental bullocks (77) averaged 186.1p and sold to 204.3p per kg for a pen of 328kg Limousin crosses from New Cottage Farm, Lyth and £1,165 gross for a 630kg Charolais cross from Stempster Mains.
Continental heifers (39) averaged 178.5p and sold to 232.1p per kg for a 392kg Limousin cross from Corslet Farm, Fortrose and £1,000 gross for a 580kg Charolais cross from Fiddlefield, Muir of Ord.
