DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd, (October, 11th) sold 168 rams at its annual show and sale of Blackface rams, sponsored by P K N Nutrition.

The overall champion was a shearling from Messrs MacDonald, Ess, Carrbridge, realising £1,700 to Messrs Pitmain Estate. The reserve champion award went to a ram lamb from Mr R. MacIntosh, Glenfernate, Blairgowrie realising £500 to Mr N. MacLeod, Upper Muiryden, Rosemarkie.

Shearlings (146) sold to £2,200 gross from Abersky, Torness.

Two shears (5) sold to £400 gross from 37 Vatisker, Back.

Ram lambs (10) sold to £500 gross (twice) from Glenfernate and Harestone, Insch.

Aged rams (7) sold to £300 gross (twice) from Blackmuir, Heights of Dochcarty & Newton of Crathie, Ballater.

Shearlings - Dalbuiack, Carrbridge, £1700, Beldhu, Croy, £1600, Milton Farm, Aberarder & Beldhu, £1200.

Two shear - Bardnaheigh, Harpsdale & 37 Vatisker, £200.

Aged rams – Newton of Crathie, £280 (twice).

Lambs (426) averaged £38.77 and sold to £145 gross for a pen of Blackfaces from 37 Vatisker, Back.

Ewes (2,545) averaged £38.85 and sold to £98 gross for a pair of Blackfaces from Blackmuir, Heights of Dochcarty.

Gimmers (477) averaged £77.68 and sold to £200 gross for a pen of Blackfaces from Arnicle Farm, Glenbarr.

Feeding sheep (46) sold to £64 gross for a Cheviot ram from Pabbay Farm, Isle of Pabbay.
