Project Deployed Successfully - Collaborative Wave Power Project Aims To Decarbonise Subsea Operations

An ambitious collaborative project to power subsea equipment with wave power and subsea energy storage has taken to the seas in the north of Scotland.   The £2million demonstrator project, called Renewables for Subsea Power (RSP), has connected the Blue X wave energy converter - built by Edinburgh company Mocean Energy - with a Halo underwater battery developed by Aberdeen intelligent energy management specialists Verlume.

Halifax House Price Index February 2023

Kim Kinnaird, Director, Halifax Mortgages, said, "The average house price in February was £285,476, 2.1% up on this time last year, and has been stable over the last three months.   "When comparing to January, there was a 1.1% increase in house prices through the month of February, although overall prices are flat compared to three months ago.

22 Years Of Bans For Two Separate Company Directors Who Dissolved Their Businesses To Take Covid Loan Scheme Money

Takeaway owner from Oldham and company director from Kings Langley in Hertfordshire falsely claimed Bounce Back Loans totalling around £69,000 before dissolving their companies.   Rukia Begum, 46, from Oldham, and Simon Grant Gorgin, 63, from Kings Langley, have been disqualified for a total of 22 years after each separately claimed tens of thousands of pounds in covid support loans to which their companies were not entitled.

New fund established to help rural students

A new fund has been set up to support people from rural communities to access UHI courses.  The Witherby Publishing Group Charitable Trust has donated £105,000 to provide scholarships and bursaries to talented individuals across the Highlands and Islands over the next three years.
