32% Yearly Rise In Insolvency-related Activity In Scotland As Directors Look For Answers To Financial Problems

32% yearly rise in insolvency-related activity in Scotland, R3 research shows.   The number of Scottish businesses experiencing insolvency-related activity jumped over 32% in December 2022 compared to the same period in 2021, according to new research from R3, the insolvency and restructuring trade body.

Consumer Price Inflation Dips Slightly To 10.5% Overall But Food Prices Rise Again - UK December 2022

The Consumer Prices Index including owner occupiers' housing costs (CPIH) rose by 9.2% in the 12 months to December 2022, down from 9.3% in November.   The largest upward contributions to the annual CPIH inflation rate in December 2022 came from housing and household services (principally from electricity, gas, and other fuels), and food and non-alcoholic beverages.

National Strategy For Drones Presented To The UK Government In Landmark White Paper

The UK Government has today been presented with a landmark national strategy for drone technology across land, sea and air to rapidly, safely and efficiently accelerate growth by capitalising on an industry estimated to be worth over £45 billion to the UK alone by 2030.   The White Paper, ‘A National Strategy for Drones Across Land, Sea and Air', was submitted to Government by the Drone Delivery Group.

Food Price Inflation 17th Month Of Continual Rises

Food and non-alcoholic beverage prices rose by 16.9% in the 12 months to December 2022, up from 16.5% in November.  The annual rate of inflation for this category has risen for 17 consecutive months, from minus 0.6% in July 2021.

Still Time To Get Your Winter Vaccination Say NHS Highland

NHS Highland is encouraging those eligible who have yet had their winter vaccination to please come forward.   Dr Tim Allison, Director of Public Health for NHS Highland, said: "Uptake of both the COVID and Flu vaccinations in the Highland area has been good but we know there are still those who are high-risk and/or vulnerable who have yet to come forward for their vaccination.

More Time To Apply For Short-term Lets Licences

Recognising the pressures short-term lets hosts face at this time, legislation has been laid to extend the deadline for applying for a licence by six months to 1 October 2023.   The new deadline applies to anyone operating as a host before 1 October 2022.

UKs Saving Incentives Not Fit For Purpose With The Rich Pocketing Lion's Share Of £7 Billion Cost

Government incentives for savings are not fit for purpose, with around 750,000 low-and-middle income households having no savings at all, as rich individuals benefit from costly and unnecessary tax breaks, according to new Resolution Foundation research published on Monday 16 January 2023.   The report ISA ISA Baby - published in partnership with the abrdn Financial Fairness Trust - examines the scale and distribution of savings across the UK, the impact of savings on families' financial resilience, and which households key savings policies have benefitted.

Five Ways To Reduce Your Mortgage Repayments In 2023 - And Why Rates Have Risen So High
