'green-watching' - Businesses Of All Sizes Should Follow New Climate Reporting Regulations

From 6 April, Britain's biggest companies must reveal the full impact of their operations on the climate in their annual reports.  With the UK pledged to reach net zero by 2030, smaller companies should also reveal their green plans, says ParcelHero.

SSEN Encourages Applications For Its £1m Resilient Communities Fund

With this year's funding pot increased to £1m, SSEN is urging communities across the north of Scotland to submit their applications for the latest round of its Resilient Communities Fund (RCF).   The aim of the fund is to help communities become more resilient in the face of severe weather events and prolonged power interruptions and, following the severe storms which battered the country this winter, SSEN has increased the total amount available in the north of Scotland in 2022 to £1m.

96% social care workers say their employer is currently short staffed.  The claim is made in a report Burnout Pandemic by UNISON Scotland Over 2,500 social care members took part in the survey, 85% of whom were women.

DWP Proposals To Help Pension Schemes Boost Investment Diversity

The government has today (Wednesday 30th March) announced proposals to help pension savers benefit from more diversified investment portfolios.   The DWP's combined consultation - which runs until 11th May - seeks views on policy proposals and draft regulations designed to make it easier for defined contribution (DC) pension schemes to invest in illiquid assets, if trustees deem it in members' interests.

Scottish Quarterly Housing Statistics, March 2022

There were 18,974 all-sector new build homes completed in Scotland in the year to end June 2021, according to quarterly statistics on housebuilding and affordable housing supply published today by Scotland's Chief Statistician.  This is an increase of 10% (1,751 homes) on the 17,223 completions in the previous year, in which activity levels were impacted by Coronavirus (COVID-19) lockdown measures.
