Scottish Gunners Freedom Of City Of Inverness March Cancelled

Issued on behalf of the 19th Regiment Royal Artillery (The Scottish Gunners) It is with much regret that the decision has been taken to cancel 19th Regiment Royal Artillery's visit to Inverness and the Freedom Parade scheduled for 3pm on 26 March 2020.   This decision has been made in order to comply with the Scottish Government's guidelines on restrictions on public gatherings to control the spread of Coronavirus COVID-19.

Uk Government Postpones Changes To IR35 Tax Rules As Corona Virus Wrong Time

The UK Government has postponed the introduction of a much criticised tax reform that would have meant major implications for North Sea contractors.   Steve Barclay, chief secretary to the Treasury, said the deferral of changes to off-payroll working rules would help businesses and individuals left struggling by the Covid-19 outbreak.

DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (March, 17th) sold 16 prime cattle.   Prime bullocks (6) averaged 202.2p (+6.0p) and sold to 209.0p per kg and £1,342.60 gross.

DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (March, 18th) sold 684 store cattle and 68 OTM cattle.   Bullocks (411) averaged 215.1p and sold to 266.9p per kg for a pen of 296kg Limousin crosses from Cambusmore Estate, Dornoch and £1,275 gross for a 665kg Simmental cross from Lochdhu, Nairn.

Highland Council Postpones Meetings

The Highland Council has taken the decision to postpone all committee meetings and Member workshops due to take place in March and April.   Convener of The Highland Council Bill Lobban said: "The decision has been taken in response to the Prime Minister and First Minister's announcements on Monday afternoon, and the guidelines that have been issued thereafter.

Scotland's GDP grew by 0.2% in real terms during the fourth quarter of 2019, covering the period October to December.  The UK quarterly GDP remained flat at 0.0%.

Schools, Colleges And Early Years Settings To Close in England

After schools shut their gates on Friday afternoon, they will remain closed until further notice except for children of key workers and vulnerable children, as part of the country's ongoing response to coronavirus.   Examples of these workers include NHS staff, police and supermarket delivery drivers who need to be able to go to work to support the country’s fight to tackle coronavirus.

Age Scotland helpline receiving COVID-19 calls.   First Minister Nicola Sturgeon visited a vital helpline for older people that is handling COVID-19 inquiries, ahead of confirmation of a package of support for people, communities, local authorities and the third sector as they face the impact of the virus.

HMRC Prioritise Applications To Use Denatured Alcohol In Hand Sanitising Products

Manufacturers of hand sanitisers and gels will have their applications for denatured alcohol fast-tracked during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, HMRC have set out today (18 March 2020).   Since the outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19), demand for alcohol-based hand sanitising products has increased sharply, leading to some shortages.

Employment, Unemployment And Inactivity For Young People

Statistics from the Annual Population Survey have been released which show that 328,000 young people aged 16-24 years were in employment in Scotland in January 2019 to December 2019.  The employment rate for young people was 57.9%, higher than a year ago (57.2%).
