Gaza Conflict - Snapshot Of A Population Being Starved Into Submission

Israel has banned the UN aid-coordinating agency, Unrwa, from accessing the population of northern Gaza where a major famine is now believed to be imminent.  The country has accused UNWRA staff of involvement in the October 7 Hamas attack but has provided no evidence this was the case and the agency denies the allegations.

First Ukrainian Pilots Graduate From RAF Flight Training

The first Ukrainian pilots to have undergone intensive training under the guidance of Royal Air Force instructors have graduated from flight school.   The 10 pilots received basic flying, ground school and language training in the UK and will one day form the first line of defence in protecting Ukraine's skies from Putin's forces.

Retail Sales Great Britain - February 2024 - Flat Sales

Retail sales volumes (quantity bought) were estimated to be flat (0.0%) in February 2024, following an increase of 3.6% in January 2024 (revised from an increase of 3.4%).   Sales volumes in clothing and department stores grew because of new collections but falls in food stores and fuel retailers offset this growth.

Eight Firms Selected For £600m Civil Engineering Framework

The Scottish Government has selected eight firms for its public works framework covering civil engineering projects.   Expected to be worth £600 million over the next four years, the framework is divided into three lots: general civil engineering works of a value between £5m and £25m (total value £120m); structural civil engineering works of a value between £5m and £25m (total value £80m); and all civil engineering works of a value between £25m and £100m (total value £400m).

£30 Million Mental Health Funding

Two funds to support projects aimed at improving mental health and wellbeing in adults, children and young people have been awarded a further £30 million.   The Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund for Adults, and the Children and Young People's Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Supports, have been awarded £15 million each for 2024-25.
