Scotland's Shadow Minister for Transport Mr David Stewart, Labour MSP for the Highlands & Islands constituency, has made a fact-finding visit to community-owned Gills Harbour on the shores of the Pentland Firth's Inner Sound. Two vessels made their debut visits to Gills Harbour on the morning of Sunday, May 10th, 2015. The mini-ships Uskmoor and Lodesman sailed across the Pentland Firth from Orkney to conduct operations in the Inner Sound of the narrow, tide-swept, channel separating Caithness from the isles.10/5/2015
Gills Harbour Spring, 2015 - Gearing Up
Community-owned Gills Harbour is the most Northerly seaport on the British mainland, lying on the shores of the Pentland Firth's Inner Sound, just off the A 836 road, only four miles West of John O'Groats. Happening At Gills
The 24 metre-long multi-cat vessel C-Salvor is paying her first 2015 operational visit to Gills Harbour this week. The little rectangular-shaped 145-tonne ship is using the Scottish mainland's most Northerly port for conducting diver-led survey operations for tidal electricity developers MeyGen Ltd at its Crown Estate lease site, 1 mile off the little port, and just offshore from its planned cable-landfall site at Ness of Quoys, that lies 1 mile along the Gills Bay coast east from the harbour.10/12/2014
MeyGen Public Open Days, 16th - 17th December 2014
It is MeyGen's intention to start onshore construction at Ness of Quoys near to the village of Mey early next year and they are planning on holding two open days next week in order to assist with any questions about the works and the project in general. Members of the MeyGen team will be on hand between 11am - 9pm on Tuesday 16th December at Mey Hall and 11am - 9pm on Wednesday 17th December at Caithness Horizons.11/11/2014
Damen Delivers Tug for Scrabster Harbour
Scrabster Harbour Trust (UK) has taken delivery of a new harbor tug / workboat, a Damen Stan Tug 1606. The vessel, named Highlanders, will replace its current workboat which was built in 1976.11/11/2014

ANDRITZ HYDRO Hammerfest, part of international technology Group ANDRITZ, has received an order from MeyGen Ltd. to supply three 1.5-megawatt tidal current turbines to the planned tidal array in the Inner Sound of the Pentland Firth, Scotland.6/11/2014

Mojo Maritime has signed a contract with James Fisher Marine Services (JFMS) which will see them provide significant marine operational and engineering expertise to the construction phase of the MeyGen Inner Sound tidal project. Wick Set To Become Beatrice Operation and Maintenance Base
Beatrice Offshore Windfarm Ltd (BOWL), a joint venture partnership formed between SSE Renewables (75%) and Repsol Nuevas Energias UK (25%), has announced that Wick Harbour is likely to become the future location of the Beatrice offshore wind farm Operation and Maintenance base (O&M).
