Highland Council To Build 55 New Council Houses

Council welcomes Scottish Government funding for new home building in the Highlands.
Fifty five new homes are to be built in the Highlands by The Highland Council with the help of £1.65 million from the Scottish Government's 'Incentivising New Council House Building Fund'.
Councillor Margaret Davidson, Chair of the Council's Housing and Social Work Committee welcomed the news this week that the Council's submission to the third round of council house building funding had been successful, she said: "This is a much needed boost to the Council's programme of house building. We are delighted that the Scottish Government has listened to our case and acknowledged the urgent need for new homes in the Highlands."
The fifty five new housing units of 2 and 3 bedroom properties will be built throughout the Highlands at: Assynt Road, Inverness (24); Joss Street, Invergordon (10); Fort William (3); Strathpeffer (8); Dunvegan Road, Portree (6) and Dunbarrie Terrace, Kingussie (4).
The total cost of the housing programme will be £6.93 million with Highland Council's Housing Revenue Account and landbank funds contributing £2 million and the remaining £3.280 million sourced from new borrowing.
