Met Office - A yellow weather warning for ice is still active until 10am this morning.

Our crews are out treating roads, but please take care and drive to local road conditions and not the speed limit.

The information provided is a summary of reports from operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time. It is not intended to imply that any individual route is entirely snow and ice free and drivers must be aware that conditions can change rapidly and make their own assessment of conditions for travelling.

Mid and East Ross, and Black Isle

Mixed conditions this morning due to low surface temperatures and showers of rain. Icy conditions possible on roads that have seen rain, with pockets of grey frost on roads. Precautionary treatment being given to all Priority 1 & 2 roads. Caution advised as black ice has been reported in areas.

Caithness

Negative temperatures on all routes this morning, icy stretches on primary routes and localised reports of black ice on some secondary routes. All routes being treated as per gritting policy. No other known issues to report.

Sutherland

All routes affected by frost and icy stretches. All currently being treated in order of priority in accordance with policy.

Skye and Raasay

After a cold start to the evening, road surface temperatures recovered in the early hours to positive temperatures. Localised reports of black ice were treated. Gritting as per policy. No other known overnight issues reported.

Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh

Overnight road surface temperatures dipping on some of the higher-elevation routes, gritting as per policy. There were no reported overnight calls and no current known issues across the network. The Bealach na Ba remains closed - another concerted effort will be made again this morning to reopen.

Lochaber

Positive road surface temperatures across most of the network. No overnight issues. reported.

Nairn

Negative temperatures throughout the area this morning with frost and ice covering the network. All gritting routes as well as footpaths being treated. No known overnight issues.

Inverness

Ice risk, particularly on higher routes. Temperatures are rising fast this morning. Caution advised. Gritting as per policy and footpaths. No known issues reported overnight.



Badenoch and Strathspey

Negative temperatures throughout the area this morning, with frost and ice covering the network. All routes as well as footpaths being treated, as per gritting policy. No known overnight issues.

Maps of the Council's gritting routes by priority and policy are available online at www.highland.gov.uk/gritting Met Office - A Yellow warning for rain is in force for western and northern Scotland until 10:00 on Monday morning and warns of 40-60mm of rain quite widely, with up to 80-100mm possible over higher ground in the west.   The information provided is a summary of reports from operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time.

Ticket sales now open on reinstated Wick-Aberdeen flights

Following the announcement on 23 December 2025 that Air Charter Scotland have been appointed to take over the Wick-Aberdeen air service, tickets for the service are now available for sale.   Tickets can be bought directly from the operator at https://aircharterscotland.com/ , and will also be available through online vendors such as Google Flights and Skyscanner.
