Led by Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) in the Highlands and Islands, the Rural AI Roadshow conference runs across Scotland in January 2026 with events in Inverness (27 Jan), Dundee (28 Jan) and Gretna (29 Jan).

Each event will bring together business leaders, innovators and practitioners to explore the potential of AI to support rural economies.

AI is not just for large tech companies. It is already helping rural businesses improve customer service, manage stock, reduce waste and predict demand, without the need for complex systems or large investment.

The conferences are designed to inspire and inform, while addressing concerns and creating opportunities for connection across the public and private sectors. Attendees will hear real-life examples from rural businesses, explore simple AI tools, and take away practical ideas they can apply immediately.

Theresa Swayne, senior development manager at HIE, said, "The Rural AI Roadshow will showcase opportunities for Scottish businesses, highlight pioneering projects, and provide practical insights into how AI can support inclusive and sustainable growth in rural Scotland. Attendees will hear directly from fellow rural entrepreneurs, take part in hands-on sessions, and leave with clear, actionable ideas for their own businesses."

The Roadshow is open to all rural businesses and aims to demystify AI through straightforward, honest conversations about how it can save time, support decision‑making and help businesses thrive.
