HIE welcomes opening of two new engineering, technology and research facilities in Thurso

Annemarie Monteforte from Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE), said:
"The two facilities which the First Minister is opening today are key to building further on the skills and R&D required for the energy supply chain in Caithness and the wider North Highlands.
"Through this Thurso campus, UHI and North Highland College now deliver the full range of Higher and Further Education services to provide the skills needed for the sector to flourish. The opening of the new Engineering Technology and Energy Centre (ETEC) means that, on this one campus, North Highland College UHI can now provide the energy sector with state-of-the-art education facilities right through from school leavers to post-doctorate researchers, in addition to the academic support offered to Nigg Skills Academy.
"HIE is delighted to have worked closely with the Caithness and North Sutherland Regeneration Partnership and UHI to support the development of the growing energy supply chain industry in the Highlands and Islands."
