Enabling activities:
I met this week with Partnership colleagues to review inward investment leads, and to firm up our forward marketing plans. Discussions also continued this week on plans to take messages on investment opportunities to potential investors at specific partner-led events.
Next Thursday and Friday sees the start of the Charrette process for both Wick and Thurso. The Wick Charrette starts on Thursday 21st from 2pm - 8pm in the Assembly Rooms, with the Thurso event in the Pentland Hotel on Friday 22nd from 2pm - 8pm. I will make short presentations on CNSRP and future opportunities as part of the "Local Economy" workshops at both events. These are due to be held at 6pm on each day.
Communications:
As part of an ongoing process of helping communicate progress with the delivery of aspects of our economic transition programme CNSRP's partners work together to generate news stories for local, regional and national media. I also speak on a regular basis to individuals and organisations across the area to update on progress. This week:
I met this week with members of Thurso & Wick Trades Council to follow up issues raised at its last meeting. I updated them on the projects that CNSRP partners see as priorities for the coming year, and undertook to keep members up to date with progress so that they might help reinforce the value of the work being planned. I also met this week with Calum Davidson, HIE's Head of Energy & Low Carbon, to discuss encouraging progress being made to enable investment in key enabling projects.

Week Commencing 8th April 2019 Energy & Business Services: It was good to see this week in the Press & Journal's Energy Voice a piece confirming the transformational impact that the Beatrice Offshore project is having on Wick. It is a timely reminder that although the £2.6Bn project is nearing the end of its construction phase, the economic impacts in the north will continue over the lifetime of the project through the operations base in the restored harbourfront buildings in Wick, which will be home to around 90 workers.
