Aerospace and defence sector opportunities in the region highlighted at event

Businesses in the Highlands and Islands are being invited to a free workshop to find out how the region can benefit from opportunities in the aerospace, defence, security and space industries.



It will be held in at An Lòchran, Inverness Campus on Tuesday 26 September 2017

The event is organised by Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) and ADS Scotland which is the Scottish branch of the aerospace, defence, security and space industry trade organisation, ADS.

The membership organisation is leading on the work to make sure Scotland benefits from emerging opportunities.

Keith Grandison, business development manager at ADS, will provide an overview of the sector. Giles Huby of Elgin based Copernicus Technology Ltd will speak about the Moray based company's expertise in intermittent fault detection and integrity testing solutions for electrical and electronic components and wiring.

Joyce MacLennan from HIE, said: "The event is designed to make businesses more aware of ADS and its services and how the region can benefit from new opportunities for employment and economic growth. Those who attend will find out about how their business can benefit from the industry. I’m delighted that we will be joined by speaker Giles Huby, who will share his experiences of operating in the sector."

The event will be held 1-4pm and will include lunch.

As HIE reaches 60, new chair says best is yet to come
The newly appointed chair of Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) says the region is on the threshold of a new era of economic growth.   Angus Campbell's term as chair began officially on 1 November - 60 years to the day since HIE's forerunner, the Highlands and Islands Development Board (HIDB) opened for business with just six employees.
