UK-Taiwan Trade Talks Focus On Green Future

Twenty-fourth Annual UK-Taiwan Trade Talks promote bilateral relations in trade, renewable energy, education and technology.   The 24th annual UK-Taiwan Trade Talks progressed market access ambitions in a range of sectors including energy and offshore wind power, financial services, pharmaceuticals, agriculture and whisky on 18 October 2021.

Scotland's international exports increased by 3.4% in 2019.  Exports to the rest of the UK also increased, up 5%.

Highland Council to set out plans for Green Hub

Ahead of the Highland Climate Change Conference this week and the Highland Council meeting on 28 October, Council Leader Margaret Davidson highlighted the green ambitions of the Council.   She said: "I am delighted there was cross chamber support at our meeting of Highland Council, on 9 September, for a Future Highlands Strategy, with the development of a Green Energy Hub in Highland at its heart.

NHS Scotland Academy - £9 Million To Enhance Health Workforce

Health Secretary Humza Yousaf has officially launched the new NHS Scotland Academy, backed by £9 million of investment to accelerate training and build the country's health workforce.   As a collaboration between NHS Golden Jubilee and NHS Education for Scotland, the Academy will contribute to improving staffing levels to meet growing patient needs.

Housing Prices Continue To Soar In Many Countries Around The World

While most economic indicators deteriorated last year, house prices largely shrugged off the effects of the pandemic.  Of the over 60 countries that enter into the IMF's Global House Price Index, three-quarters saw increases in house prices during 2020, and this trend has largely continued in countries with more recent data.

This Fund provides bursaries to residents of Community Council areas in Caithness to access training and education opportunities that better equip them with the range of skills needed to enter or retain employment in key sectors of the local economy.   This Fund provides bursaries to residents of the following Community Council areas in Caithness; Watten, Halkirk & District, and Lybster, Latheron and Clyth.

UK Government Borrowing continues to undershoot forecast

Government borrowing in August 2021 was £20.5 billion, down £5.5 billion from the same month last year.   Year to date borrowing of £93.8 billion is now £31.9 billion below our March forecast profile.

SIB - Recovery Loan Fund

The Recovery Loan Fund provides loans to UK charities and social enterprises who have been impacted by Covid 19 and need funds to help them to survive, recover and grow.  It has been established by Social Investment Business (SIB) to make an existing Government guarantee scheme, the Recovery Loan Scheme more easily accessible to charities and social enterprises.
