Highland Council Launches #buildingourfuturehighland

The Highland Council today launches Building Our Future Highland - a campaign dedicated to keeping the public updated on the progress of works for the re-profiled capital programme's education, housing, and property projects across the region.   Chair of the Housing and Property Committee, Cllr Ben Thompson said: "I would encourage anyone interested in the development of our housing, property and schools to utilise this new campaign and keep informed on the progress of works in Highland.

Final Proposal For Councillor And Ward Numbers For Highland Council Area Submitted To Scottish Ministers

Boundaries Scotland (external link) has submitted its final proposal for Councillor numbers and wards in the Highland Council Area to Scottish Ministers.   The Islands (Scotland) Act 2018 required the Commission to review six councils containing inhabited islands - Argyll and Bute, Highland, North Ayrshire, Orkney, Shetland and Na h-Eileanan an Iar.

DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (June, 9th) sold 170 store cattle and 112 adult head of breeding cattle and 137 OTM cattle.   Bullocks (77) averaged 248.9p and sold to 300.0p per kg for a 215kg Simmental cross from Proncy Farm, Dornoch and £1,150 gross for a pair of 527kg Beef Shorthorn crosses from Todholes, Thurso.

Get Into Summer - Supporting Children And Young People's Wellbeing

Children and young people most impacted by Covid will be supported by £20 million to create opportunities to socialise, play and reconnect this summer.   Councils will receive £15 million and up to £5 million has been allocated to a coalition of 18 national partners to further strengthen and build on existing summer provision in addition to what is usually on offer.

Mapping Scotland's Crops - Technology to predict crop types

Crops in every field farmed in Scotland have been recorded by satellite imagery to create a new interactive map to helping to breakdown agricultural land use.   The Scottish Crop Map uses data from 2019 to predict the crop types using radar images from the European Space Agency (ESA) Copernicus Satellite Programme and to recognise the crops growing in nearly 400,000 fields in Scotland.

Additional financial support now available as part of the Taxi Driver and Operator Grant Scheme

Taxi and Private Hire Drivers and Taxi Operators are set to benefit from a new grant scheme, following an announcement from Scottish Government.   If you are a licensed taxi or private hire driver who previously received support through the Taxi Driver and Private Hire Vehicle Driver Support Fund, and hold a current Driver Licence, you are eligible for an additional payment of £1,500.
