Scots And German Renewables Groups To Collaborate On Offshore Wind And Hydrogen

Renewable energy industry groups in Scotland and Germany are joining forces to boost the production of both offshore wind energy and green hydrogen.   The north of Scotland's offshore wind cluster organisation, DeepWind, has today (Wednesday 23 September 2020) signed a three-year memorandum of understanding (MoU) with its German counterpart, WAB.

Horrendous Waiting Lists For Mental Health In Caithness

Highlands and Islands Labour MSP, Rhoda Grant, has found that people with complex mental health problems who need psychology services can sometimes wait nearly two years for appointments.   Mrs Grant asked NHS Highland about the situation for adult mental health services in Caithness after constituents contacted her with concerns and following a meeting with representatives from Caithness health campaigners CHAT.

High Life Highland Locations Still Open For Business

The Chief Executive of High Life Highland has spoken following the First Minister's statements to remind customers that the Charity's locations should not be affected by the restrictions coming into place later in the week.   Steve Walsh said, "High Life Highland has worked extremely hard to ensure that our locations are operating strictly in line with the Scottish Government's guidelines.

DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (September 22nd) sold 11 prime cattle.   Prime bullocks (2) averaged 222.0p (-0.9p) and sold to 223.0p per kg and £1,338.00 gross for a 600kg Aberdeen Angus cross from Bridgend Farm, Dingwall selling to Messrs John M Munro Ltd, Dingwall.

Expired driving licences automatically extended by 11 months

Photocard licences or entitlement to drive that expires between 1 February and 31 December 2020 have been extended for 11 months from the date of expiry.   Under the changes, drivers whose photocard driving licence or entitlement to drive runs out between 1 February 2020 and 31 December 2020 will have their entitlement automatically extended from the expiry date, for a period of 11 months.

School Access For Highland Highlife Offers Support To Young People

Young people at school are the winners as a result of discussions between High Life Highland and The Highland Council that will see the Charity's staff phased back into schools after the October break.   Speaking about the arrangement, High Life Highland Chairman, Ian Ross said, "I am delighted that once again our partnership working arrangements with colleagues in The Highland Council mean that High Life Highland staff will be able to recommence their work with young people during the school day and within school buildings.

Rail Franchising Finally Hits The Buffers

Rail Franchise companies raked off plenty in fees and directors payments over the years.   Even with huge increase in passenger number and higher fares they could not make it pay and finally handed it back to errrr .....You the taxpayer!!! Basically the pandemic put paid to what already looked like a shaky set up.
