Dingwall And Highland Marts Ltd - Sale 9 September 2020

STORNOWAY, Dingwall and Highland Marts Ltd., (September, 9 th ) sold 3,315 sheep of all classes.   Store lambs (2,539) averaged £47.03 (+ £9.53 on the year) and sold to £94 gross for a pen of Mules from 5 Shulishader, Point.

NDA Launches Leadership Partnership To Inspire Young Nuclear Professionals

The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) has today launched a year-long partnership aimed at inspiring and supporting young people in the nuclear industry.   Chief Executive David Peattie announced the NDA's partnership with the Nuclear Institute's Young Generation Network (YGN) today at a special webinar for young professionals.

Councillors to debate rejection of Boundary Commission's proposed electoral changes for 2022

Highland Council members will debate rejecting electoral arrangement proposals put forward by the Local Government Boundary Commission for Scotland at a meeting of The Highland Council later this week.   The Boundary Commission wrote to the Council's Chief Executive earlier this year with proposals for new electoral boundaries from 2022.

Buy now pay later schemes are tempting Scottish shoppers into taking on unsustainable debt finds the Shop Now, Stress Later Study by Money.co.uk.   The study reveals: *28.99% of consumers in Scotland admit to using BNPL for eating out.

Drinking Water Quality In Scotland 2019 - Private Water Supplies

n 2019, a total of 48,384 tests were taken from regulated private water supplies, which are those supplying more than 50 people or a commercial activity.   89.8 per cent of tests met the required standard, but 14.5% of these supplies had a sample that contained E.coli, which indicates faecal contamination and potentially causes serious illness.

Limit on indoor gatherings extended to Renfrewshire and East Dunbartonshire.   Restrictions on meetings in indoor household settings are to be extended to people living in Renfrewshire and East Dunbartonshire.

DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (September 8th) sold 13 prime cattle.   Prime bullocks (3) averaged 237.2p (+26.2p) and sold to 246.0p per kg and £1,462.50 gross.

PORTREE, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (September, 7th) sold 3,437 store lambs & feeding sheep.   Lambs (2,852) averaged £43.62 (+£4.49 on the year) and sold to £82 gross for a pair of Texel crosses from 44 Borneskitaig, Kilmuir.

A crofter from Keiss has launched her own lamb box business, containing a wide selection of cuts of locally bred lamb.  Sally Crowe from Hawkhill realised during lockdown that more and more people are looking for local produce and she decided to launch "The Croft".

New Research On Net Zero Opportunities For Scotland's Ports

A report launched by Crown Estate Scotland on 2nd September 2020 shows how Scotland's ports and harbours can tap into the huge potential created by the development of offshore wind in the years to come.   The report, titled: Ports for offshore wind: A review of the net-zero opportunity for ports in Scotland comes just months after the launch of Scotland's first offshore wind leasing round for a decade, ScotWind Leasing, which is set to kick start Scotland's new generation of offshore wind farms and build new demand for operations and maintenance facilities to support major projects.

Orkney community group plans new use for former boat store

The Nouster Boat Store is situated on Papa Westray (known locally as Papay) and will become home for a new arts residency programme and the Bothy Museum, which is currently located at Holland Farm on the island.   Papay Development Trust has been awarded £31,458 funding from Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) to help it acquire and develop the Grade B Listed building.
