Dingwall & Highland Marts - Sheep Sale 23 April 2020

DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts, (April, 23rd) sold 1,615 sheep of all classes.   Lambs (1,265) averaged £58.77 and sold to £95 gross for Texel crosses from 5 Drynoch, Carbost.

Looking Beyond Lockdown - First Minister Opens Discussion On "new Normal".

A document outlining how decisions will be taken to control coronavirus (COVID-19) while restoring a degree of normality to everyday life has today been published by the Scottish Government.   The paper - COVID-19: A Framework for Decision-Making - sets out the position during this ongoing period of lockdown and outlines the factors that must be considered as we move gradually to ease restrictions.

Royal Bank of Scotland is introducing a new ‘companion card' - a supplement card to an existing current account that enables vulnerable customers and those in extended isolation to give trusted volunteers a way to pay for their essential goods.   New card offers quick & easy way for vulnerable customers to pay for essentials through a trusted carer or volunteer.

BRC-KPMG Retail Sales Monitor March 2020

Covering the five weeks 1 March - 4 April 2020 On a total basis, sales decreased by 4.3 percent in March, against a decrease of 1.8 percent in March 2019*.  This is the worst decline recorded since our monitor began in January 1995, excluding distortions.

National Records Of Scotland - Deaths Involving Covid-19, Week 16 - 13 To 19 April 2020

s at 19th April, 1,616 deaths have been registered in Scotland where COVID-19 was mentioned in the death certificate, according to statistics published by National Records of Scotland (NRS) today.   Between 13th April to 19th April, 651 deaths relating to COVID-19 have been registered, up from 610 deaths in the previous week, 6th April to 12th April.

UK House Price Index For February 2020

The UK HPI shows house price changes for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.   The February data shows: on average, house prices have fallen by 0.6% since January 2020 there has been an annual price rise of 1.1%, which makes the average property in the UK valued at £230,332.

From HMRC To Employers To Claim Wages - Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme

You can now claim online for a grant for 80% of your furloughed employees' salaries, up to a maximum of £2,500 per employee, per month, through the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme.   This scheme will be open until the end of June 2020.

Covid-19 Impact On Scotland's Economy

The economic impact of the efforts to tackle the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic could see Gross Domestic Product (GDP) fall by around a third, according to a report by the Chief Economist.   The latest State of the Economy report, published by the Scottish Government's Chief Economist Gary Gillespie, presents analysis showing that GDP in Scotland could fall by around 33% during the current period of social distancing, similar to estimates from UK and international bodies such as the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

More Than 110,000 Universal Credit Claims Since Coronavirus Outbreak

Household claims for Universal Credit in Scotland have increased from an average of 20,000 per month in 2019 to over 110,000 between 1 March and 7 April, highlighting the impact the pandemic is having on people's finances.   That’s why the Scottish Government, in partnership with the Citizens Advice network, is launching a new campaign to raise awareness of the financial support available to people.
