Corporation Tax Increases Hammer UK Tax Competitiveness

The Centre for Policy Studies a Centre Right think-tank has issued a statement on the effect of the increase in Corporation Tax on the UK.   The UK ranks 30th out of 38 OECD countries in the 2023 edition of the International Tax Competitiveness Index, published annually by the US-based Tax Foundation.

Support For Young People Affected By Drugs

A service which provides support for young people affected by substance use in their family is being expanded to six new areas of Scotland.   The Routes youth programme, which is run by Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol and Drugs (SFAD), offers one-to-one and group support to people aged 12 to 26 and currently operates in East and West Dunbartonshire.

500,000 People On Universal Credit May Have £390 Wiped From Bank Account

The Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS) warns around hundreds of thousands of people could see their limited capability for work and work-related activity (LCWRA) payments cut.   A Universal Credit change could see 520,000 claimants lose out £390 a month.

BP Boosts EV Charging Network With $100 Million Order Of Tesla Ultra-fast Chargers

n hursday 26 October 2023 bp (NYSE: bp) announced a deal in which bp pulse, bp's EV charging business, will acquire ultra-fast charging hardware units from Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) for $100 million.  The investment will facilitate the expansion of the bp pulse public network across the US, while also enabling support for EV fleet customers by deploying chargers at their private depots.

Scotrail Urges Passengers To Plan Ahead With Heavy Rain On The Way

ScotRail is warning customers that there will be disruption to services between the Central Belt and Aberdeen and Inverness following a yellow weather warning for heavy rain in the Highlands and northeast of Scotland.   A Met Office yellow weather warning for heavy rain has been in place across the northeast of Scotland since 12.00 today (Thursday, 26 October), and will remain in place until Sunday, 29 October.
