Investing In Green Hydrogen

Projects to drive innovation in the production, storage and distribution of renewable hydrogen are to receive £7 million of Scottish Government funding.   First Minister Humza Yousaf announced the Hydrogen Innovation Scheme funding while addressing delegates at the All-Energy conference in Glasgow.

A further £3.6 million has been allocated to Hospital at Home to support more than 150 extra virtual beds.   Hospital at Home can provide a safe, patient centred alternative to an acute hospital admission.

Uk Economy Boosted By £1.4 Billion As Longer Lorries Roll Out On Roads

Legislation change allowing longer lorries and longer semi-trailers on roads will save 70,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide from being released into the air.   laws introduced to permit longer semi-trailer combinations up to 18.55 metres on GB roads - 2.05 metres longer than standard size.

HMRC Staff On Strike From Today

Workers at HM Revenue and Customs have launched a series of strikes from today Wednesday 10 May 2023 Members of the Public and Commercial Services union (PCS) in East Kilbride and Newcastle upon Tyne will be on strike from 10 to 12, 15 to 19, 22 to 26, 29 to 31 May and on 1 and 2 June.   The start of the strike coincides with the closure of a ballot of PCS members in 184 other areas of the civil service on whether to renew a mandate for industrial action.

UK Exports Fell More Sharply Than Any Other G7 Nation's In February

New OECD trade figures show UK exports slumped deeper than any other G7 nation's in February.  The international delivery expert ParcelHero says Britain’s exports fell by -4.45% against January and also tumbled -2.91% year-on-year.

More EU citizens will be supported to remain in Scotland, thanks to renewed funding for the Stay in Scotland campaign.   In partnership with the Citizens' Rights Project, COSLA and Settled - an independent charity helping EU citizens to stay in the UK - over £200,000 will help vulnerable people apply to the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS).
