Progress Made in delivering ICT contract
Highland Councillors have been assured that a £66 million ICT contract with Fujitsu is being robustly monitored to ensure that upgrades of computer and telephony equipment in Council offices and schools are delivered. Councillor Carolyn Wilson, Chairman of the Resources Committee, said she was satisfied that clear signs of improvement in performance were evident following recent high level meetings with Fujitsu representatives as well as through reports on local delivery.6/4/2011

Temporary Closure Along Stretch of B9176 Struie Road
Motorists are being advised that part of the B9176 Struie Road will be closed to all vehicles from 7am on Monday 11 April until 4pm on Thursday 21 April to allow for essential repairs to be carried out to a bridge and culverts. The area affected is the B9176 junction with the U2002 link road to Edderton and the B9176's north junction with the A836 at Wester Fearn.6/4/2011
Government Approves New £6.08 Minimum Wage Rate
The Government has today accepted the independent Low Pay Commission's (LPC) recommendations for this year's National Minimum Wage (NMW) rates. The following rates will come into effect on 1 October 2011: * The adult rate will increase by 15p to £6.08 an hour; * The rate for 18-20 year olds will increase by 6p to £4.98 an hour; * The rate for 16-17 year olds will increase by 4p to £3.68 an hour; and * The rate for apprentices will increase by 10p to £2.60 an hour.4/4/2011

Police to use shared service point following closure of Bettyhill police station The Northern Joint Police Board agreed the closure of a number of police stations at its meeting in January, in order to avoid a further reduction in police staff numbers and to maintain officers at highest possible levels within communities.
