Report By Bill Mowat
Atlantis Resources Corporation is 10% shareholder in MeyGen Ltd's Inner Sound seabed lease Crown Estate concession, which lies between 1 and 1.5 miles off Gills Bay/Harbour, between the mainland of Canisbay parish and Stroma Island.
As GHL chairman, I'm quite happy to be quoted as stating that the move upwards to 1.5 MW output per individual tidal stream electricity-generating is being considered and indeed is in the early stages of being acted upon by several other tidal turbine developers.
Most are now part of multi-national major engineering/defence contractors(e.g. Voith and Siemens of Germany, France's DCNS and Alstom).
Lockheed Martin, famous for its Trident Missiles and Galaxy heavy aircraft ... and once the Super Constellation airliner, employs over 120,000 worldwide.
Atlantis RC is a relatively small device developer.
The first 3 tidal stream turbines to be installed in or from 2015 summer, will supplied by MegGen Ltd, by Andrtiz Hydro Hammerfest, part of Europe's largest hydro-electric turbine maker, of Graz, Austria, where the first order of three for MeyGen Ltd are expected to be manufactured in that Alpine country
The choice of supplier of the other 3 turbines in MeyGen Ltd's demonstration array has not been yet decided, according to Dan Pearson, its CEO, in a chat that I had with him at the Scottish Renewables conference in Inverness last month.
