Motorists advised of temporary traffic restrictions for Etape Loch Ness 2017

The Highland Council and partners are advising motorists of temporary road closures and speed restrictions which will be in place next weekend (22 - 23 April) during the Etape Loch Ness cycling event.

The restrictions and prohibitions which are being put in place are for participants' safety and to allow the Etape to take place on public roads.

Access for emergency services vehicles will be maintained at all times and for vehicles employed to ensure the safety of the Event participants.

The following roads will be closed to all other vehicles on the dates and times as follows::

A82 Dalnottar - Inverness Trunk Road between its junction with Bught Drive, Inverness, and its junction with the C1118 General Booth Road. 06:00hrs to 07:15hrs on Sunday 23rd April



A82 Dalnottar - Inverness Trunk Road between its junction with the C1118 General Booth Road, Inverness, and its junction with the A831 Drumnadrochit – Cannich – Beauly Toll Road. 05:35 to 08:05hrs on Sunday 23rd April



A82 Dalnottar – Inverness Trunk Road between its junction with the A831 Drumnadrochit – Cannich – Beauly Toll Road and its junction with the private road leading to Urquhart Castle. 06:35 - 08:15hrs on Sunday 23rd April

In addition to these temporary restrictions, during the event a 20mph temporary speed limit will be in place along the B862 Fort Augustus – Whitebridge – Torness – Dores – Inverness Road between Holm Roundabout and its junction with the B861 Inverness – Leys – Inverarnie Road (Ness Bridge Junction).

Highland Council proceeds to procurement for a new electric Corran Ferry

The Highland Council has reached another significant milestone in the delivery of a replacement Corran Ferry, with the procurement for a new electric vessel.   Funded through a £58 million investment from the Inverness and Highland City-Region Deal, including £28 million from the Scottish Government for the new electric vessel, £20 million from the UK Government and £10 million from The Highland Council towards landside infrastructure, the project will deliver a modern replacement ferry service for one of Scotland's busiest single-vessel crossings.
