Youth Activities At The New Pulteney Centre Soon

Youth Activities in Pulteney Centre There will be lots of fun and exciting activities for local youths to take part in when Pulteney Centre opens to the public on January 23.   MONDAYS For Music To start the week off there will be a Monday night music and drama group running from 7.30pm - 10pm.

What Pulteney Centre Will Bring to the Community

Pulteney Centre will be a "one-stop-shop" for the community's needs, offering a unique package of social groups, training and facility hiring opportunities all within the same building.   The large function room will be available to hire for a variety of different purposes such as: * Birthday parties * Small wedding parties * Children's themed parties with full use of the soft play area and other fun activities such as face painting * Business meetings and community meetings The multi-purpose hall will also be available for hire for a wide use of needs, including: * Use as a sports hall for games of five-a-side football, badminton and lots of other sports * A venue for conferences or large meetings * Perfect for community events or special occasions * All with full use of the changing rooms, showers and other facilities As well as all this Pulteney Centre will be offering: * A band practice room * Youth drop-in * Restaurant/bistro offering good quality food and refreshments for families * Cinema facilities * And lots of classes and groups you can find out about in this newsletter Pulteney Centre will open up a range of possibilities for people and businesses in the local community and the wider area.

New Classes at the Pulteney Centre, Wick

Pulteneytown People's Project in Wick will be opening the doors to its new community Centre, Pulteney Centre, at the end of January and promises to bring a huge variety of new classes to the town.   Pulteney Centre will be the first of its kind in Wick, offering a comprehensive collection of groups and educational classes all housed under the one roof.

HIE Board Checks Out Wick's New Community Centre

As the final stages of work take place on the £3.8 million community centre for Wick, Highlands and Islands Enterprise's most senior staff have enjoyed a sneak preview.   As part of a two day programme of meetings with ambitious Caithness and Sutherland businesses and social enterprises, the HIE Board visited the Pulteney Centre due to open in the new year and paid tribute to the achievements of the Pulteneytown People's Project (PPP).

Local Residents To Be Presented With RNLI Honorary Awards

Six residents from the Highlands and Western Isles are to be presented with an Honorary Award by the RNLI in recognition of their outstanding support to the charity.  Four are to receive a gold badge, the third highest honour bestowed by the charity upon fundraising volunteers.

Chamber Slams Crown Estate Delay On Seabed Leases

Commenting upon reports by Reuters last week that the Crown Estate will announce seabed leases for the Pentland Firth development in February 2010, Trudy Morris, Chief Executive of Caithness Chamber of Commerce said: "We are extremely concerned by this delay.  We were told back in August that conclusion of seabed leases would happen in the autumn.

500th Request For Business Assistance

The Business information and advice service for the Highland and Moray Councils which is delivered by The Highland Council's Enterprise Trust, Highland Opportunity Limited, has just reached its first major milestone today with at total of 500 requests for advice and assistance having been received since the service started on 1st April.   Enquiries to Business Gateway have come via the national website www.bgateway.com and the national telephone number 0845 609 6611 and 30% of enquiries have come from people visiting the walk-in shops in Inverness and Elgin where business advisers are on hand to answer queries and provide information.

Highland based banks agree to help Caithness companies benefit from new Government funding initiatives Representatives from the main Banks operating in the Caithness area have agreed to share their understanding of the new government initiatives with local businesses at a specially convened event at the Weigh Inn Hotel, Thurso on 8th May from 1pm.   Businesses have been suffering from the effects of recession and the 'credit crunch' making life more difficult for those seeking to grow or simply survive.

Budget Comment From Caithness Chamber Of Commerce

Commenting on the Chancellor's Budget statement, Trudy Morris Chief Executive of Caithness Chamber of Commerce, said: "Businesses had a need to see some positive news out of the Budget and we are fairly encouraged by some of the measures announced.   The Chancellor appears to have taken notice of some of the recommendations put forward by both the British and Scottish Chambers of Commerce.

The Caithness Chamber of Commerce has recruited a chief executive to ensure a strong united business voice for the future.   Trudy Morris, who currently lives in Inverness, will take up her new appointment on Monday 5th January 2009.

Caithness Chamber Of Commerce Reinvigorated With £150,000

The Caithness Chamber of Commerce has been reinvigorated thanks to a cash injection from Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE).   The funding will be supporting a new Chamber which now plans to appoint a Chief Executive to lead the Chamber forward to ensure a single voice for the Caithness business community and bring individual groups together under one umbrella organisation.
