UNISON's response to Scottish Government £2205 flat rate NHS pay offer.

The Scottish Government have made a flat rate pay offer of £2205 to all NHS staff on Agenda for Change pay grades - effective from 1 April.   There are other non-cash elements, however these are still being worked through by negotiators.

DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland marts Ltd, (October 21st) sold 646 rams at its Great Annual Show and Sale of North Country Cheviot Hill Rams generously sponsored by Robertsons of Tain.   The Judge Mrs Sarah-Jane Forbes, Dalrachie, Ballindalloch awarded the overall champion to a two shear from Farquhar Renwick, Strathcanaird.

Record Pay Offer For NHS Staff In Scotland

NHS staff are set to receive a record pay rise of £2,205 - an average 7% pay uplift - to help tackle the cost of living crisis and retain staff during the tougher winter months.   This increased offer was made after constructive negotiations between the Scottish Government and NHS Unions, which lasted into the early hours of Friday morning (21 October).

Infected Blood £100,000 Interim Compensation Payments To Be Made This Month

Compensation will not be taxed or be subject to NI deductions and will be made UK-wide, delivering on the government's commitment to meet interim recommendations of the inquiry.   Thousands of victims of the historic infected blood scandal, which occurred in the 70's and 80's, are being contacted this week to confirm that interim compensation payments will be made by the end of October.

Glasgow Property Director Given 12 Year Disqualification For False Claims to Bounce Back Loans

Director of property management companies took three Bounce Back Loans to fund house purchase and cash the sale proceeds.   Brendan Michael Gaughan, 40, from Glasgow has been disqualified as a director for 12 years, after using his companies to take out Bounce Back Loans totalling £135,000 that the companies were not eligible for.

Three Cats At Gills Harbour

Two catamaran work-boats berthed at Gills Harbour this week with the trans-Pentlnd ferry MV Alfred, also a catamaran, in the background.   The larger workboat is MPC Athenia which was being used as a floating base or ROVs - remote underwater vessels, for detailed inspections on the three turbines operating at the MeyGen demonstration subsea site one and a half miles off Gills Harbour.

More than one million families claiming tax credits to receive second Cost of Living Payment from 23 November

More than one million claimant families receiving tax credits, and no other means-tested benefits, will get their second Cost of Living Payment from Wednesday 23 November 2022, HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has confirmed.   This £324 UK Government payment will be paid automatically into most eligible tax credit-only customers' bank accounts between 23 and 30 November 2022 across the United Kingdom.

10.1 Per Cent Benefits Rise Due Next April Crucial To Helping 10 Million Working-age Families Through Deepening Cost-of-living Crisis

CPI inflation increased by 10.1 per cent in September - driven by surging food prices – which should prompt a significant increase in benefits next April that will help to support families through the ongoing cost-of-living crisis, the Resolution Foundation said on Wednesday 19 October 2022.   The Foundation notes that inflation in September was driven by rising food prices, which are rising at their fastest rate since 1989, and partially offset by falling petrol prices (which have since stabilised).
