School Strikes Will Go Ahead After Revised Offer Too Little Too Late

School strikes across Scotland are going ahead on 26th, 27th, and 28th September 2023.   UNISON have indicated their intention to take strike action on Tuesday 26th, Wednesday 27th and Thursday 28th of September across Highland Council schools.

Norn Secures HIE Funding To Capture Offshore Wind Opportunities

A Shetland-based engineering alliance has been awarded £105,000 from Highland and Islands Enterprise (HIE) to accelerate plans to deliver major floating offshore wind contracts and large-scale energy projects.   Norn combines the expertise of four leading engineering firms - Malakoff, Ocean Kinetics, LEF and Voar Energy, all based on the islands.

Inflation Shock Is Bolstering Tax Revenues, But Putting Public Services Under Further Strain

Strong tax revenues have helped public borrowing come in £11.4 billion lower than the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) forecast in the financial year to date.  But while inflation is flattering the public finances today, it is putting even greater pressure on public services whose budgets will need to be revisited in the near future, the Resolution Foundation said on Thursday.
