Consumer price inflation UK June 2025 - Rising Again to 3.6%

The Consumer Prices Index including owner occupiers' housing costs (CPIH) rose by 4.1% in the 12 months to June 2025, up from 4.0% in the 12 months to May.   On a monthly basis, CPIH rose by 0.3% in June 2025, compared with a rise of 0.2% in June 2024.

Boosting broadband in the North East

Around 63,000 more premises in the North East of Scotland will be able to access gigabit-capable broadband following the award of a contract to deliver the Project Gigabit rollout in the area.   The £105 million contract, funded by the UK Government and procured and delivered by the Scottish Government, has been awarded to GoFibre.   The roll-out will benefit some of the most rural areas in Aberdeenshire, Aberdeen City, Angus, Dundee, Moray, Highland and parts of Perth and Kinross. It will reach locations including Forfar, Glamis and Brechin, to Cullen, Forres and as far west as Castle Stuart near Inverness Airport.

The Scottish Affairs Committee's Inquiry into the Barnett Formula

The Scottish Affairs Committee has released a report calling for increased transparency in how the Barnett formula is applied to determine funding for Scotland.   The Barnett formula is a mechanism used by the Treasury in the United Kingdom to automatically adjust the amounts of public expenditure allocated to Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales to reflect changes in spending levels allocated to public services in England, Scotland and Wales, as appropriate.

Non-binary people in Scotland: an analysis of Scotland's Census 2022

This report uses the new availability of Scotland's Census 2022 data to analyse the characteristics and outcomes associated with non-binary people, to fill evidence gaps and create a better understanding of Scotland's diverse population.   This report draws comparisons between the non-binary population aged 16 and above and the rest of Scotland aged 16 and above (excluding non-binary people) using data from Scotland's Census 2022.
