Many Eyes Looking At Interest Rates With The Fed, ECB and Bank Of England Expected to Cut

The Federal Reserve, European Central Bank (ECB) and the Bank of England (BoE) are considering interest rate reductions as a response to the economic impact of tariffs.   Considering the pros and cons with tariffs helping to focus the minds of economists and bankers and not least the chancellor Rachel Reeves.

DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd, (April 1st) sold 8,772 sheep of all classes, including the annual spring sale of ewe lambs with an overall sale averaged of £122.09.   Ewe Lambs (4,806) sold to £270 gross for a pen of Blue Texels from Broombank, Culloden Moor.

DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (April 2nd) sold 1,499 Prime Sheep.   Old Season Lambs (765) averaged 311.0p per kg and sold to 365.0p per kg for a pair of Beltex crosses from Torgorm, Conon Bridge and £182 gross for a pair of Rouges from Ellis Park, Conon Bridge.

Decarbonising homes and buildings - Revised Heat in Buildings Bill to be brought forward

A revised Heat in Buildings Bill will set a new target for decarbonising heating systems by 2045 alongside continuing work to reduce fuel poverty.   Acting Minister for Climate Action Alasdair Allan confirmed the Scottish Government's intention to bring forward a revised Bill for consideration by the Scottish Parliament later in 2025, to include: A target for decarbonising heating systems by 2045, sending a strong signal to homeowners, landlords and other building owners on the need to prepare for change while outlining collective actions to help do this.

Second shipment of vitrified waste from UK to Germany completed

The second of three planned shipments of high level waste in the form of vitrified residues has been safely delivered to Germany.   Seven flasks containing high level waste were transported from the Sellafield site, West Cumbria to the port of Barrow-in-Furness by rail.
