New rules to sack police officers guilty of gross misconduct

Police officers to no longer be able to escape the sack for gross misconduct as major government reforms to boost standards in policing continue.   Police officers found guilty of gross misconduct will no longer be able to escape dismissal under new rules that will help to root out rogue individuals and drive up standards.

Environmental taxes raised £54.3 billion in the UK in 2024, down by 0.5% from £54.6 billion in 2023.   As a proportion of gross domestic product (GDP), environmental taxes made up 1.9% of total GDP in 2024, compared with 2.0% in 2023.

Programme for Scottish Government 2025-26
