South Korea's oldest banking firm, Shinhan Bank, will facilitate £2 billion of investment into the UK's financial services sector by 2030.   Minister for Investment Poppy Gustafsson opens the expanded UK office of Shinhan Bank, the Republic of Korea's oldest banking firm.

New Pensions Commission should aim to boost both retirement incomes and ‘rainy day' savings

The new Pensions Commission should complete the achievements of the original Pensions Commission by both boosting future generations' living standards in retirement and taking on the equally pressing ‘rainy day’ savings challenge people face today, the Resolution Foundation said on Monday.   The original Pensions Commission, which reported back in November 2005, has already transformed living standards for current and future pensioners for the better.

Ember Coaches launched a new route from Thurso to Inverness with stops in Scrabster, Wick, Dunbeath, Brora, Tain and Dingwall.   The route will began on 9 July 2025 with four return services per day.

Results Helpline to support pupils in the Highlands with SQA results

Young people in the Highlands can call a dedicated helpline offering expert advice to anyone receiving their full Higher, National, and Advanced results on Tuesday, 5 August 2025.   The pupils and students- along with their parents and carers - will be able to get support with their results through Skills Development Scotland's (SDS) Results Helpline, which opens from 8am on results day.

Over a million lower income families today include both a disabled person and an unpaid carer - who suffer a £3,300 income penalty as a result

Scottish Housing Market Review Q2 2025

The Scottish Housing Market Review collates a range of previously published statistics on the latest trends in the Scottish housing market.   Sales Registers of Scotland data recorded the fourth consecutive quarter of annual growth in residential transactions in Q1 2015 (7.0%), which meant that across financial year 2024-25 transactions grew by 7.1%.
